Austal USA Honors Women's History Month Through Outreach to Students at Blount High School

Mobile, Ala. – In honor of Women’s History Month, several women from Austal USA joined KL Moore, a graduate of Murphy High School and owner of KL Moore Image Group, in an outreach program for Blount High School’s Junior and Senior female students.

“It was a privilege for Austal USA to have been invited to participate in this outreach program,” said Austal USA President Craig Perciavalle. “The role women play in the success of Austal USA is immeasurable. In the typically male dominated profession of shipbuilding, we’re slowly seeing more women enter the industry and I can tell you it has made Austal USA a stronger company. I want to encourage young women to consider a career in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields. With greater diversity comes greater innovation and success.”

The outreach program included an interactive panel discussion in which four Austal female employees participated. The mission of the program was to expose the young women to career opportunities that they may not normally consider female-friendly and inspire them to overcome any preconceived notions they may have of what females can accomplish in the workplace.
