Austal in the Community

We also have a responsibility to the community who has supported Austal USA in our successful effort to become the largest manufacturing employer in Southwest Alabama.

Austal supports numerous community programs through monetary donations and volunteer efforts. Among other programs, Austal is a repeat participant in the American Cancer Society’s Annual Chili Cookoff and Fuse Project's Dragon Boat Festival. We also coordinate a team that participates in the annual walks to support breast cancer awareness and the American Heart Association. Austal runs an annual onsite toy drive for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots organization during the holiday season at the end of the year. Austal employees also donate their time to community organizations such as local Rotary Clubs, Chamber of Commerce, public and private schools, veterans organizations, and other civic groups who have us deliver presentations about Austal’s history, current employment, and product base to better educate the community on all Austal has to offer.

Austal has enhanced our corporate partnership with United Way by sponsoring successful annual fund drives at our ship manufacturing facility and coordinating what has become an annual United Way Golf Tournament enlisting the participation and sponsorship of many of our suppliers.

Austal also recognizes the need to support local cultural efforts as well.  We are a corporate sponsor of the Mobile Baybears organization, the area’s AA professional baseball team.  Austal has supported several major exhibits that have visited the Mobile Exploreum Museum, located in downtown Mobile, and we are a major contributor to the GulfQuest Maritime Museum, positioned just across the Mobile River from Austal's facility, which features a fixed exhibit displaying how modern aluminum shipbuilding is accomplished at Austal.
