Austal USA’s 2022 Charity Golf Invitational raises $200,000 for local charities
Mobile, Ala. – Austal USA raised $200,000 for local charities through its annual golf invitational held this year at the Robert Trent Jones Magnolia Springs Golf Course today. All of the proceeds from the event will benefit United Way of Southwest Alabama, Dumas Wesley Community Center, and Veterans Recovery Resources.
The outstanding support of our sponsors and participants enabled the event to surpass last year’s proceeds. Two hundred eighty-eight golfers (72 teams) representing 90 Austal USA vendors across the U.S. came together this year to make this event so successful.
“It’s great that we were able to bring together this outstanding group of sponsors to support these fine charities that do so much for our region year after year,” Austal USA President Rusty Murdaugh said. “From day one, Austal has received tremendous support from our community at the local, county, state and national levels, from our suppliers, our friends and our workforce family and we are so excited to have this opportunity to give back.”

The charitable dollars raised from the event will have a significant impact on our work with the homeless and the working poor in our community. “
In 2012, Austal USA first teamed up with the company’s current and potential vendors to raise money through a golf tournament. Since the tournament started it has raised over $1.9 million. Continued support from our teammates and the local community has ensured the tournament has exceeded goals in both players and donations every year.
Murdaugh emphasized the significance of the day. “This display of solidarity is another example of Austal USA’s success as a company and why we’ll be building ships for years to come.”
